Forgiveness and repair, the healing journey

On Tuesday 28 June, the book presentation of “Forgiveness and reparation, the healing journey”, the latest book by Mpho Tutu van Furth will take place in Vrijburg Amsterdam. There is much talk in our society about reconciliation and restoration, especially around the slavery past. In her book, Mpho Tutu van Furth offers surprising and innovative insights, based, among other things, on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa and her own experiences as a preacher and activist.

Mpho Tutu van Furth  is an Anglican priest and pastor of Vrijburg since 2022. She married Dutch professor of pediatrics Marceline van Furth in 2015. After they married in the Netherlands, the South African Church forced her to relinquish her priesthood. Nevertheless, her father Desmond Tutu, who had fought for the rights of homosexuals for some time, gave his paternal victory over marriage in South Africa. Mpho Tutu van Furth is committed to helping young women blossom. She wants to support and coach them in their career and encourage them to make their voices heard.

At 8 pm Mpho Tutu will talk about her new insights and she will read passages from her book. Kathleen Ferrier, former member of parliament and advocate of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the Netherlands, provides an initial response. Pastor of Vrijburg Joost Roselaers will lead the evening. From 9 pm there is room to have the book signed and to drink a glass together.

Forgiveness and reparation, the healing journey
